Mata Vaishno Devi

Mata Vaishno Devi, also known as Mata Rani, Trikuta and Vaishnavi is one of the nine manifestations of the Hindu Mother Goddess. Every year millions of devotees visit the holy shrines of Vaishno Devi to worship the deity and seek her favor. Located amidst lush greenery, this quaint temple on the slops of Himalayas is regarded as one of the most auspicious pilgrimage destinations in Hinduism. The temple is located at a distance of 13.5 kms from Katra city and can be reached with ponies electric vehicles, ropeway, and palki from the city. Ban Ganga

This is the first major halt for devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi temple from Katra city. The small temple is located by the rivulet called Ban Ganga, whose water is considered to be pious. According to mythology, the Mother Goddess Durga created a tributary with a bow and an arrow. Once the tributary was created, the holy river Ganga gushed out. Thus, the name Ban Ganga came into being. Devotees travelling to Vaishno Devi Temple often stops here to take holy baths and then start on their spiritual journey to the Mother. The temple offers a truly enchanting view of the surrounding landscapes and the lush hills.

Charan Paduka

This sacred place is located at 1.5 kms from Ban Ganga. Nestled at the elevation of 3380 feet from the sea level, the place is believed to have Goddess Durga’s footprints. According to mythologies, the Mother Goddess decided to stay at this place when she was being chased by Bhairavnath. Devotees worship the holy footprint etched on a large piece of rock and pray for blessings. The Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has also set up all important medical facilities here for the betterment of devotees.

Bhairo Mandir

The Bhairo Mandir, as known as Kaala Bhairava mandir is located at the distance of 3 kms from the sacred cave. According to mythologies, Bhairav Nath repented his wicked deeds and asked for forgiveness with his last breath. The merciful mother goddess, Vaishno Devi took pity on him and exonerated him. It is said that the journey to the Vaishno Devi temple is only complete after paying homage to the Bhairo Mandir. Situated on the top of the hill, the temple is easily accessible from Ardh Kawari.

Trikuta Parvat

Trikuta Parvat is located at a distance of 5 miles form Deoghar, enroute to Dumka. Deriving its name from the three peaked mountain, this is one destination that offers mesmerizing natural beauty along with mythological significance. The stunning hills covered with lush foliage attracts natural lovers, while devotees from around the world visit the place to worship lord Shiva in Trikutachal Mahadev temple.
